Rich Resources!

Economists frequently point to the availability and capitalization of natural resources when projecting a country’s long-term success. My state, Minnesota, is rich in farmland and iron ore. By shipping beyond its borders, these products enrich the lives of people across the world.

LCMC is equally rich in resources. We have incredible teachers, preachers, and leaders, lay and ordained, who impact where they serve. These rich resources are theological and practical, exciting and mundane.

There is unmined potential when these resources stay in a congregation or district. My vision is to help capitalize on these great resources for the benefit of the whole association. LCMC has a rich and fruitful future as we edify and encourage one another!

To that end, I will be highlighting opportunities from our talented leaders. Be on the lookout in emails, on the calendar, and through our rich network of districts for opportunities to grow in many facets of ministry. Here are a just a few:

Equipping Leaders Zoom Call

LCMC Pastor Rev. Thomas Brashears, MSOD, and the Alliance of Renewal Churches are creating a monthly interactive Zoom call to walk through, guide, and coach you through tips, techniques, and strategies for mastering essential tools for managing your ministry. Upcoming topics include Writing Job Descriptions (7/27), Dealing with Poor Performance (8/31), and Reviewing Employees and Pastors (9/28). Check the LCMC calendar or allianceofrenewalchurches.org. This opportunity is open to all leaders in any church or network, so invite your friends.

New Call Workshop: Tips for Healthy Relationships and Conversations

The first 1-2 years in a call are critical in building relationships and trust. Unfortunately, it is easy to unintentionally erode that trust too. Congregational President Pat Hogg and Pastor Dawn Spies are creating an engaging workshop to equip pastors and council leaders to have fruitful conversations and build trust in the early stages of a call. Contact Pastor Dawn Spies for information and to sign up.

LeaderCare Retreats

The LeaderCare Initiative, part of LCMC 3.0, is focused on leaders being healthy, connected, and equipped to last a lifetime in ministry. There are 3–4-day formation retreats happening in North Carolina and in conjunction with the Iowa, Texas, and Inter-Mountain West districts in 2023 and 2024. Details are currently being finalized for these retreats.  Please check the LCMC calendar this fall or contact district leaders for more information.
