  • Position Title: Intentional Interim Pastor
  • Position Type: Full Time
  • Description:

Our mission is strengthening individuals and families as we experience together the power and promise of God’s love.

In preparation for the departure of our pastor of 17 years, Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church is looking for an Intentional Interim Pastor to lead us through the upcoming transition phase that will begin this spring. We are a long established Lutheran church with an average attendance of 150-175 at two church services and Sunday School on Sunday mornings.

We are currently assessing our vision process started over two years ago. Through this process we have identified missions and ministries we are good at and are seeking to improve on them.

One of our most important outreaches is our self-sustaining Daycare, located in our church facility. Usually up to 125 students are taught and cared for Monday through Friday.

We also have a successful “high energy” Vacation Bible School that has attracted many new and repeat “campers” over the last 12 years. Many of those attending are from the community, our Daycare, and other churches in the Dallastown area.

Our congregation is fortunate to have on staff a part time pastor that preaches one Sunday a month and does some administrative duties as well.

The pastor serving as our IIP during this transition period will:

    • Preach and teach the Word of God
    • Preside at worship services and administer the sacraments according to the practices of the Lutheran Church
    • See that members’ needs for pastoral care are met through either pastoral or lay ministry
    • Give pastoral leadership to council, teams, committees and activities of the congregation
    • Be available to preside over weddings, funerals, baptisms, first communions, and confirmations.
    • Be responsible for the supervision and evaluation of staff.
    • Provide pastoral leadership to the Search Team in the given developmental tasks, but not be involved in the congregation’s call process.

We are accepting resumes for this position now through March 1, 2018. Starting time is negotiable. We welcome any questions you might have.
