    CONGREGATION PROFILE

    FAITH COMMUNITY CHURCH OF POWELL, WYOMING

     

    Location:   Powell , WY is located in the Big Horn Basin at the north west corner of WY. Faith Community Church is located in the country approximately 10 miles west of Powell on highway 294.

    Worship Service:   blended using contemporary and traditional music; communion is served the first and third Sundays; when necessary communion is taken to those who are homebound.  Basic Sunday schedule:  9-9:20 – prayer time    9:30-10:15 – adult SS    10:15-10:45 – fellowship    10:45 - Worship

    Education:  adult Sunday school prior to worship service; Sunday school offered to children and youth when in attendance

    Evangelism:  Alpha program, women ministries, personal sharing

    Special ministries:  local Loaves and Fishes (food closet), Gideons,  Powell Valley Hospital Auxiliary, Young Life, CRI(Children’s Relief International), Campus  Ventures (college ministry), Walk to Emmaus,  WEC (Worldwide Evangelization for Christ), Serenity Pregnancy Resource Center, V.B.S., Lutheran World Relief-Baby Care Kits, Refilwe-South African Orphanage ministry

    Church Development:  January 2006 a group of believers who were unwilling to compromise the truth of God’s word founded the Faith Lutheran Church. In May 2012 the church was led to change the name to Faith Community Church. The new name reflected the fact that a number of us do not have a Lutheran background. It also reflects our desire to be a part of the community we are in and help to meet the needs of the people who live there.   2011 acquisition of land (donated)   2011-2012 – building of church   2012 – occupancy

    Congregational  Makeup:  conservative, small town atmosphere,  rural setting-casual dress, ranchers,  farmers,  commuters,  professionals including teachers and business people,  retirees,  kids and youth coming with parents; current attendance average  50-65

    Constitution and Bylaws:  currently being reviewed

    Staffing: current staff – paying temporary pastor, custodian; any other staffing - volunteers from congregation      Future staff- full time pastor compensations – salary, housing allowance (no parsonage provided); any other staffing – volunteers from congrgation

    Building:  no renovations needed; however space is needed for additional Sunday school area and pastor’s study. No date for these additions has been determined. Handicapped accessibility - current with ramp and both bathrooms equipped as needed.

    Stewardship Practices:  voluntary basis according to the biblical principal of giving joyously and generously    Offering containers are located for easy accessibility.

    Spending Plan:  on going expenses of maintaining building, reduction of building loan, pastoral staff expenses

    Needs:  strong shepherd/teacher pastoral leadership with a willingness to accept and work within the uniqueness of the culture of the area

    Strengths:  welcoming congregation who will respond in accordance to leadership provided; group of givers and servers
