Amazing Grace Lutheran Church is a small congregation that formed in 2009 in Paducah, Kentucky with 16 families and averaging around 25-30 in attendance. We meet in a building that we purchased in 2014, remodeled and completely paid for. In the beginning our ministry was led by a retired professor, later called under contract and ordained. Currently we are without a pastor and our members have taken on all responsibilities of the church, including worship services. We are a congregation that practices open Communion, and believes that a personal relationship with Jesus Christ guides us in following the great commission within our community and our world.
We are seeking a recently retired pastor or one who is willing to be bi-vocational, who will lead in worship, call on members and prospective members, and do pastoral care. We desire a pastor that has good communication skills to work with both our older and younger members of the congregation and to lead the congregation in evangelism, is energetic, and willing to help us grow. It is important to us that this pastor shares our emphasis on Biblical principles and has a vision for missions. Our congregation is very active in support of local ministries that provide services which meet human needs.
Paducah is located on the Ohio River in Western Kentucky, just miles from the Missouri and Tennessee borders and shares a border with Illinois. We are located within approximately 3 hours of St. Louis, Nashville, Louisville and Memphis. We are one of three Lutheran churches in McCracken County and only 5 in Western Kentucky.
We are located near a nationally known recreational area, the Land Between the Lakes, which includes Kentucky Dam and Lake and Barkley Dam and Lake. This provides boating, fishing, swimming and hunting opportunities.
McCracken County has a population of about 65,000, and Paducah, the county seat, approximately 25,000. We have two large hospitals and a progressive medical community, which is the largest employer of the county. Post secondary educational opportunities are available at the local community and technical college, or at a nearby 4 year university.
