Coordinator for Pastoral Ministry Rev. Steve Lien to Accept New Call

Dear Members of the Board of Trustees,

Victory Lutheran Church, Mesa, Arizona, has recently voted to extend a call to me to serve as Pastor of Growth Ministries. This opportunity came knocking, without my looking, and I have accepted; I begin at Victory on September 1, 2017. This letter, therefore, will serve as my official letter of resignation, which will be effective August 31, 2017.

I have been honored to serve with, and on behalf of the Board of Trustees, the Ministry Board, and the people and constituencies of LCMC. I have been blessed to meet hundreds of God’s faithful people and visit dozens of pastors and congregations in the United States and around the world. It has been a delight to watch God call hundreds of pastors to serve LCMC during my tenure. Mark Vander Tuig has been a faithful and competent supervisor, friend and advisor. I have also enjoyed the incredibly faithful staff of LCMC and the amazing people who serve on the Ministry Board.

I leave this post and the Midwest closeness to our family with mixed and bitter-sweet feelings, but trust in God’s faithfulness for me and for LCMC.

God’s great blessing and joy to you as you serve our Lord in this part of His Kingdom Vineyard!

Sincerely Yours in Christ,

Rev. Stephen C. Lien
LCMC Coordinator for Pastoral Ministry

The Board of Trustees has accepted Rev. Steve Lien’s resignation with deeply mixed feelings. Steve has been a tremendous addition to our staff team and to our association.  His passion for ministry and insight has helped us in ways that will be appreciated for years to come. He will be missed by those of us who work for LCMC and by many, many pastors and leaders whose lives he has touched, prayed with, prayed for, and counseled.

The Board of Trustees meets in July, in just a few days, to finalize the process of finding the next Coordinator for Pastoral Ministry. They will first review the position description and then establish a team to receive resumes, review the applications, and bring 3-5 finalists for the Board to interview. The team will include members of the Board, representatives of the Ministry Board, and a member at large. They will also then establish a timeline for this process. This is a critical position for our association and we ask all to commit this process to prayer.

More details will be announced after the Board meets this July.
